What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Success Coach, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site role in Brownsville, TX (relocation support provided)
- $100,000 annual salary paid weekly, plus comprehensive health benefits
Alpha takes a different approach. Here, software handles academic instruction. Adaptive applications guide each learner through content at an individualized pace. There are no lectures to prepare, no homework to assign, no papers to grade. This frees you to focus on what truly transforms lives: facilitating life skills workshops where high schoolers develop public speaking ability, concentration, and constructive feedback techniques, then coaching them individually to maintain motivation and reach their learning targets. You'll spend half your time leading group sessions. The other half, you'll sit one-on-one with students, analyzing their Coachbot metrics to pinpoint exactly where they're struggling and why.
After every workshop, your students complete a mastery-based assessment. You should earn high ratings from 90% or more. Every student should be progressing through their learning apps. These aren't hopeful targets; they define the standard. Maintaining high expectations demonstrates your confidence in their potential. In this role, you'll develop expertise in creating workshops that teenagers genuinely look forward to attending, utilizing advanced educational software, and forming meaningful relationships with students and their families. Our Brownsville location is adjacent to SpaceX. The leading edge of education alongside the leading edge of aerospace, and you'll be the one fulfilling Alpha's central commitment: students who are engaged with school, learn at twice the conventional rate, and acquire genuinely valuable skills. If you've been searching for a school that operates the way you believe schools should operate, you've found it.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for high school students covering topics such as public speaking, focus, and constructive feedback exchange, followed by measuring mastery via a structured Test2Pass assessment
- Conducting daily motivation sessions guided by Coachbot analytics to engage with individual students, diagnose obstacles in their learning applications, and help them overcome resistance
- Collaborating with students to create personalized motivational plans, including reward structures and incentives that encourage independent progress through academic apps
- Examining curriculum materials and lesson frameworks before each session, then adjusting your approach based on student engagement and response
- Teaching academic content. Mathematics, literacy, and all other subjects are delivered through software.
- Overseeing school operations or supervising staff. You won't manage budgets, handle hiring, or attend operational meetings; your complete attention stays on your student cohort.
- Enforcing discipline through conventional authority structures. No detentions, suspensions, or "because I said so." You rely on reasoning and positive reinforcement to cultivate a respectful, energized learning environment.
Develop a cohort of high school students who are enthusiastic about school, achieve 2x faster learning through adaptive software, and show mastery of practical life skills.
