What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Excellence Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site position at Alpha School campuses located in New York City, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA
- Annual salary of $150,000, with weekly pay. Health benefits begin day one.
- Relocation assistance provided
Alpha employs AI-driven 1-on-1 instruction that enables students to complete core academics in roughly two hours daily. The remainder of their day is devoted to developing life skills, pursuing personal interests, and authentic personal development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal track record establishes the benchmark: someone capable of assessing group dynamics, establishing cultural norms, and guiding students through resistance, distraction, and doubt.
Your responsibility is not instruction. It is to coach, challenge, and hold students to the same rigorous standard you've applied to yourself. Forty percent of your time involves direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies obstacles and establishes ambitious targets. Another forty percent is spent facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery rather than engagement. The final twenty percent focuses on establishing daily expectations: purposeful morning sessions that cultivate a culture rejecting mediocrity.
Your trajectory here emphasizes depth over advancement. Initially, you'll master Alpha's methodology and earn students' trust. Within months, you become the adult they trust enough to push them beyond perceived limits. The payoff isn't upward mobility. It's witnessing a student who avoided eye contact in September deliver a confident presentation to adults in May.
If you've sought a way to leverage your elite credentials for impact beyond personal achievement, submit your application now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Conducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching sessions leveraging Coachbot analytics and student performance data to identify obstacles, establish ambitious targets, and ensure accountability for execution
- Facilitating structured life-skills workshops designed for mastery by drawing on credible examples from your own elite background, followed by mastery assessment via Alpha's Test2Pass framework
- Establishing campus-wide cultural expectations each morning with focused kickoff sessions that reinforce high-performance standards
- Monitoring student advancement in real time and modifying coaching approaches based on data rather than intuition
- Cultivating trusted mentorship relationships with students and families through consistent high standards and documented motivation strategies
- Creating lesson plans, developing curriculum, or evaluating assignments (Alpha's academic infrastructure manages instruction; you manage drive)
- Presenting to a full classroom of 30 students (your impact comes through high-touch small-group coaching, not large-group teaching)
- Supervising other employees or pursuing administrative advancement (this position centers on direct student impact, not organizational management)
- Attending faculty meetings or managing institutional bureaucracy (your schedule remains student-focused)
- Compromising standards to achieve targets (if a student achieves 99%, your role is determining what prevented 100%)
Drive exceptional student motivation, growth, and life-skill mastery at Alpha's highest-expectation campuses.
