What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Director, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Houston. 200,000 dollar salary, paid weekly
- Day-one health benefits, HSA, FSA
Alpha is opening a flagship campus in this city, and we're looking for a leader who knows Houston's education landscape inside and out. You will manage a team of 15 plus Guides who coach and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No teaching responsibilities. Extensive leadership. Focused action.
Your objective: guarantee that every student enjoys school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, rely on data to inform decisions, and establish Houston's premier school from the ground up.
Lead through data. Coach toward excellence. Apply now.
What You Will Be Doing
- Launch Alpha's flagship Houston campus: Execute Alpha's three core promises for 100 plus students from day one while maintaining operational excellence across all functions.
- Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's established playbook to ensure students develop skills overlooked by traditional schools while enjoying the experience.
- Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Develop customized motivational models for individual students. Apply data-driven methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by every student reaching their objectives.
- Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide precise, actionable feedback during coaching sessions and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability using logic and objectivity rather than empathy that undermines standards.
- Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate performance across staff, operations, parent engagement, and culture. Identify problems, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and implement measurable improvements. Document every decision and refine approaches based on outcomes.
- Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality standards for students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations. Model the standard of excellence across your campus.

- Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
- Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
- Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
- Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
- Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
