Alpha is opening a flagship Houston campus and seeks a leader already familiar with the local education landscape. You will guide a team of 15 plus Guides who mentor and inspire students, while our EdTech platform delivers all academic instruction. No traditional "teaching". All action. Complete leadership.

Your objective: make certain every student enjoys school, advances at double the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life competencies. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will uphold rigorous standards, make decisions grounded in data, and establish Houston's premier school from the outset.

What You Will Be Doing

• Establish Alpha's Houston flagship campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments for 100 plus students from the first day with operational precision across all areas.
• Facilitate live skill-building workshops for K through 12 students: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's established methodology to ensure students gain competencies overlooked by traditional schools while remaining fully engaged.
• Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Develop customized motivational frameworks for individual students. Apply data-informed strategies to eliminate obstacles and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success is defined by universal target attainment.
• Develop Guides through targeted coaching: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance deficiencies. Provide precise, actionable guidance during coaching conversations and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity rather than empathy that dilutes standards.
• Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate performance metrics spanning staff effectiveness, operational efficiency, parent engagement, and organizational culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analysis, engage stakeholders, and deploy measurable interventions. Document all decisions and refine approaches based on outcomes.
• Uphold uncompromising excellence: Establish and sustain Alpha's performance benchmarks for both students and team members. Execute difficult decisions when results fall below expectations. Model exemplary standards as your campus's performance leader.
  
  

Basic Requirements

Head of School key responsibilities

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
• Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
• Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
• Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
• Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
• Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
• Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
• Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
• Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
