Alpha is opening its flagship campus in this city, and we're seeking a leader who already knows Houston's education landscape. You will manage 15 plus Guides who coach and inspire students while our EdTech platform delivers all instruction. No "teaching". Action-focused. Pure leadership.

Your objective: guarantee every student enjoys school, learns at twice the pace of conventional classrooms, and develops essential life skills. This is not a conventional Principal position. You will maintain rigorous standards, execute data-informed decisions, and establish Houston's premier school from the start.

What You Will Be Doing

• Launch Alpha's Houston flagship campus: Execute Alpha's three core commitments to 100 plus students from the outset with exceptional operational performance across all areas.
• Facilitate live workshops with K through 12 students on life skills: Conduct compelling one-hour sessions covering public speaking, growth mindset, and feedback exchange. Apply Alpha's playbook to ensure students develop competencies traditional schools overlook while enjoying the experience.
• Drive every student toward 100 percent goal achievement: Develop customized motivational strategies for each individual student. Apply data-informed methods to address resistance and sustain engagement with the Alpha platform. Success equals every student reaching their objectives.
• Develop Guides to peak performance: Leverage quantitative and qualitative metrics to pinpoint performance shortfalls. Provide precise, actionable coaching in feedback sessions and monitor progress. Maintain team accountability through logic and objectivity, not empathy that undermines standards.
• Execute data-informed campus leadership: Evaluate performance across personnel, operations, parent engagement, and school culture. Identify challenges, perform root cause analyses, consult relevant parties, deploy measurable interventions. Monitor every decision and refine strategies based on outcomes.
• Uphold excellence without exception: Establish and sustain Alpha's quality standards for both students and staff. Execute difficult decisions when performance does not meet expectations. Model the standard as the campus exemplar.
  
  

Basic Requirements

Head of School key responsibilities

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or related field. Master's preferred.
• At least 7 years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, business, or related field
• Direct experience building and managing teams of at least 15 people with full hiring and firing authority
• Deep knowledge of the Houston or wider Texas education landscape. This insight into local student needs, community dynamics, and competitive school environment is highly valuable to Alpha's Houston launch.
• Experience working with youth ages 5 through 14
• Strong data analysis skills and experience using metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
• Passion for transforming education. Belief that the traditional system is fundamentally broken.
• Startup mindset: thrives under pressure, adaptable in new situations, comfortable building systems from scratch
• Compelling and energetic speaker who commands attention from rooms full of students or staff
• Able to relate to K through 12 students, understand their interests and culture, serve as a positive role model
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
