What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Specialist, Unbound Academy (Remote) - $60,000/year USD position at Crossover?
You recognize that pivotal moment. A student stops making random guesses and begins reading with intention. They glance up and declare, "I can do this." If that's the impact you want to create daily, this is where you belong.
Unbound operates as a remote-first online school designed for genuine progress, not compliance with time requirements. We're rethinking student learning so they advance more rapidly, find satisfaction in the process, and graduate with measurable confidence.
Your typical week includes facilitating high-impact intervention sessions. The remainder involves conducting brief motivation check-ins that maintain student momentum and goal achievement. This position fits individuals who value independence, immediate feedback, and visible results. It's not suitable for those seeking rigid scripts or avoiding data-driven decisions.
If you're committed to helping struggling readers achieve substantial progress—and you value the flexibility to customize your methods for individual students—we want to hear from you.
What You Will Be Doing
Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—through personalized virtual interventions and motivational support that fosters confidence.

At Unbound Academy, students can master their core academics in just two hours a day. Our teachers use an AI-powered learning model to adjust to each child’s pace and interests, ensuring progress happens twice as fast as in a typical classroom.
By cutting out the fluff and streamlining coursework, we not only make a significant academic impact—we make learning fun, personal, and incredibly effective.
