- On-site position at an Alpha School location: Phoenix, Arizona; Tampa, Florida; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Austin, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston (South Houston or The Woodlands), Texas; Plano, Texas; Park City (Salt Lake City), Utah
- $100,000 annual salary, full-time, with weekly pay

- Relocation assistance available
Alpha School's 2-Hour Learning framework integrates AI-adaptive technology with specialized human teaching. Students work through academic content independently using personalized digital platforms. There are no whole-group lessons, no textbooks, no predetermined pacing calendars. Your function centers on the area where human expertise remains essential: targeted reading workshops in small groups, where you create and implement structured literacy lessons calibrated to each student's phonics and decoding proficiency. You will leverage real-time performance data generated by AI to inform each session, make immediate instructional adjustments, and track progress through fluency metrics, accuracy rates, and decoding skill advancement.
In addition to reading workshops, you will facilitate motivation sessions designed to sustain K-2 student engagement with their learning objectives. You will serve as their guide, their advocate, the individual who understands their identity, their passions, and their precise position in the reading development continuum. The objective: 100% of students achieve their weekly targets, and 90% or more identify their Guide as someone they value working with. This role emphasizes measurable outcomes rather than curriculum coverage—results you observe and document weekly. As Alpha grows into additional locations, the instructional model you establish becomes the blueprint for reading instruction across all campuses.
If you are convinced that structured literacy achieves optimal impact when personalized, informed by data, and taught by someone who authentically energizes a group of young learners, this position translates that conviction into daily practice. Submit your application today.
What You Will Be Doing
- Creating and facilitating small-group reading workshops centered on systematic phonics, decoding strategies, and writing for K-2 students
- Conducting and evaluating running records to determine each student's reading proficiency and inform targeted lesson planning
- Analyzing AI-generated performance metrics to modify instruction in real time rather than only during scheduled planning periods
- Facilitating motivation sessions that support students in progressing through their learning applications and achieving 100% of weekly targets
- Tailoring instruction within focused reading groups according to individual learning profiles and requirements
- Implementing a commercial reading program or scripted lesson sequence (you create customized lessons informed by student assessment data)
- Delivering instruction to an entire class simultaneously (all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups)
- Teaching core academic subjects (students work through math, science, and additional coursework independently using adaptive technology)
- Operating within a conventional classroom timetable featuring bells, class transitions, and uniform pacing requirements
- Evaluating homework assignments or producing report cards (student advancement is monitored via application data and running records)
Provide structured literacy instruction that produces measurable acceleration in K-2 reading achievement across phonics, fluency, and decoding domains.

- Demonstrated experience creating original reading lessons (not exclusively dependent on a published curriculum)
- Willingness to incorporate AI and adaptive learning technologies for lesson planning and student performance analysis
- Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha School campus in one of the specified locations
- Willingness to instruct all K-2 students, not limited to struggling readers
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
- Prior use of AI or adaptive learning platforms (e.g., Lexia, i-Ready, Amira) for lesson planning or student performance analysis
- Documented history of quantifying and communicating specific reading outcomes resulting from interventions (e.g., fluency improvements in WCPM, advancement in decoding levels)
