What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site at Alpha School campuses: Phoenix, Arizona; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Austin, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Houston, Texas; Park City (Salt Lake City), Utah
- $100,000/year, paid weekly. Health benefits begin on day one
- Relocation support provided
Alpha operates differently from traditional schools. Students work through academics using adaptive software at their own pace. There are no lectures, no worksheets, and no uniform pacing for the whole class. Your role is to ensure a small group of K-2 students loves coming in each morning, reaches their learning targets every week, and develops life skills that many adults never acquire.
You'll facilitate hands-on workshops on public speaking, focus, and giving and receiving feedback with five-, six-, and seven-year-olds. You'll guide students as they use their learning apps—not by providing answers, but by helping them build problem-solving habits that allow them to persevere independently. When 100% of your students meet their weekly targets and 90% rate you as someone they love working with, you'll have confirmation you're succeeding.
This is not supervising children on computers. It's high-accountability coaching where each student's progress is measured, every session has a trackable outcome, and your impact appears in the data, not just sentiment. If you believe children have unlimited potential and that traditional schooling limits them, this is your opportunity to demonstrate it.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops on subjects like public speaking, focus, and giving/receiving feedback for a small cohort of K-2 students
- Guiding students through adaptive learning apps by helping them build strategies to overcome obstacles, rather than supplying answers
- Conducting motivation sessions using Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, goal-setting) to ensure 100% of students reach their weekly learning targets
- Administering mastery-based assessments (Test2Pass) to verify students have genuinely mastered each skill
- Reviewing curriculum and lesson plans each day, then adapting your delivery to align with each student's profile, interests, and performance data
- Lecturing to a classroom or teaching academic content directly (students learn academics via apps; you coach life skills and motivation)
- Creating lesson plans from the ground up or designing curriculum (Alpha supplies the curriculum and playbooks; you provide the energy and execution)
- Reducing standards when students face challenges (Alpha's approach requires every student to reach mastery; accepting 90% is not permitted)
- Handling parent communications or supervising school operations (those responsibilities belong to the Campus Lead)
Guide a small group of K-2 students to develop life skills and achieve their academic targets each week.
Basic Requirements

- Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Phoenix, Arizona; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Park City (Salt Lake City), Utah; Austin, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; or Houston, Texas
- Able to attend a paid training program at our Austin, Texas campus
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Background in youth sports coaching, theater, or camp leadership where you needed to capture kids' attention AND maintain high standards
- Experience leveraging data or analytics to monitor student or participant progress and modify your methods
- Demonstrated ability to receive feedback and make visible changes to your work based on it
