What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Parent Engagement & Advocacy, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
Families who select Alpha rely on trusted advisors across every dimension of their lives. This is the one relationship they haven't had yet.
You will become the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when intuition signals something needs attention, or when they want to share a milestone they know you will appreciate. You will understand each family deeply enough to sense their needs before articulation—and you will possess the discernment and composure to address whatever they present with care, discretion, and seamless execution. Over time, you will transcend being simply affiliated with their child's education. You will become woven into how they navigate this defining period of their family journey.
Trust of this caliber is not built through systems. It emerges through presence—steady, unrushed, and sustained. You will be there during morning arrival and afternoon departure, at evening gatherings that carry weight, and in private conversations that never appear on a schedule. You will cultivate a community families feel compelled to protect, where inclusion feels organic and word-of-mouth referrals arise because the experience merits them.
Alpha operates outside traditional schooling frameworks. Students complete their core academic curriculum in two hours daily through AI-enabled applications, then dedicate remaining time to public speaking, critical reasoning, and applied projects. No lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally. The families who commit are investing in a vision they hold dear—but conviction requires ongoing cultivation.
You will sustain that dialogue with each family, through every question and reservation, for the duration of their enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional educational approach to discerning skeptics feels burdensome, this position is not aligned with your strengths. If it represents the most compelling professional conversation available to you, continue reading.

Serve as the central trusted relationship within every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, foster a community where belonging feels substantive, and establish conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.

What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the relationship owner for every family on campus—the evolving, layered connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely accommodated
- Identify potential issues before they surface as formal concerns, and address them with the tact and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
- Maintain visible availability where families gather: morning arrival (7–9am), afternoon dismissal (2–4pm), evening parent programming, and select weekend engagements
- Develop a campus culture with authentic depth—traditions, gatherings, and interaction points that foster a sense of shared belonging worth safeguarding
- Develop parent champions through organic means, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge as a natural byproduct
- Sustain the dialogue surrounding Alpha's AI-driven methodology with families managing screen time apprehension, skeptical relatives, and occasional uncertainty—not solely during enrollment but continuously throughout their campus tenure
- Recognize when a family alignment is not sustainable and navigate that reality with the same professionalism you apply universally—community integrity is integral to service excellence
- Establish the structures and cadences this role demands in a setting where the operational framework is still evolving
- Overseeing enrollment processes—that responsibility resides with the Admissions Director; your engagement begins post-enrollment and intensifies thereafter
- Operating primarily from an office—your physical presence within the community defines the role
- Adhering to standard business hours—early morning availability, late afternoon presence, and evening programming are foundational expectations, not occasional adjustments
- Relying on existing administrative infrastructure, codified procedures, or a complete staffing structure—you will function with substantial independence and create necessary resources
- Approaching family relationships as transactional engagements—this role rewards authentic human connection, not procedural adherence
Serve as the central trusted relationship within every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, foster a community where belonging feels substantive, and establish conditions under which satisfied families naturally become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently located within commuting range of one of these campuses OR prepared to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; or Kirkland, WA
- Authorized to work legally in the United States without sponsorship requirements
- 5 years in a client-facing capacity serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clientele—private school admissions, luxury service sectors, philanthropic organizations, or any context where discretion, interpersonal warmth, and social sophistication held equivalent importance to technical competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging circumstances with sophisticated families and exit those situations with confidence reinforced
- Authentic demeanor and communication approach that builds credibility rapidly with affluent, high-expectation constituencies—genuine rather than rehearsed
- Direct familiarity with independent, private, or alternative education models—through professional exposure or parenting experience—that provides legitimate credibility when families express concerns about the approach
- Authentic conviction in AI-enabled education and capacity to sustain that perspective genuinely across years of family engagement, extending well beyond initial enrollment discussions
- Flexibility for non-standard scheduling: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening programming 2–3 times monthly, and periodic weekend activities
Outstanding candidates will possess at least one of the following:
- Established connections within the local affluent community providing immediate, organic integration on campus
- Background in private or independent schooling with demonstrated success in family retention and community cultivation—beyond enrollment metrics alone
- Track record managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
- Natural ability to design experiences—events, interactions, environments—that foster a sense of belonging to something worthy of protection
- Prior involvement in startup or early-stage ventures where you built infrastructure from inception and maintained composure amid rapid change
