What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Family Relations, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- Location: On-site in Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), or Los Angeles (South Bay), CA
- Compensation: $200,000 annually
- Full-time salaried position
- Benefits package includes: Health, vision, dental insurance, 401k, paid time off, and more
This position anchors that relationship of trust. You will establish yourself as the individual families turn to when uncertainty arises, when they seek counsel, or when they wish to share something significant. Not as a transactional function—but through genuine credibility you build over time. Your involvement will define the family experience at one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).
Alpha is constructing a fundamentally different educational institution. Students finish core academic requirements in two hours per day through AI-powered learning systems, dedicating remaining time to public speaking, critical reasoning, and applied problem-solving. No traditional lectures. No unnecessary assignments. Performance outcomes in the top 1% nationally. The families we serve are discerning, well-connected, and frequently cautious. They demand rigorous thinking, not rehearsed talking points.
You will steward these relationships over the long term. Not merely at the point of entry, but continuously across years. You will engage with fluency on the subject of AI—its mechanisms, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who launch companies, invest capital, or demand exactness in all matters. If you are unable to sustain conversations at this level, the role will prove challenging. If you can, it represents one of the most intellectually stimulating positions in the education sector.
This is not client management. This is sustained trust-building with ultra-high-net-worth families who require discretion, sound reasoning, and reliability. If that setting resonates with you—and you integrate AI into your daily workflow to accelerate thinking, communication, and execution—you will immediately understand the scope of this opportunity.
What You Will Be Doing
- Take ownership of the complete family relationship on campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
- Identify potential concerns proactively and address them with discretion, efficiency, and informed judgment
- Ensure consistent visibility during critical touchpoints: morning arrivals, afternoon dismissals, and thoughtfully designed parent gatherings
- Facilitate substantive, ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-based educational approach with highly analytical, technology-oriented families
- Create and continuously improve community touchpoints that foster connection, support, and organic referral activity
- Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment quotas—your work commences once families have joined
- Operating remotely or relying solely on email communication—this role demands physical presence
- Using scripted responses or avoiding challenging inquiries about AI or educational philosophy
- Depending on established frameworks—you will create infrastructure where none currently exists
- Approaching families as transactional accounts—this position values discernment over task execution
Establish and maintain enduring trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing sustained retention, active advocacy, and unwavering confidence in Alpha's AI-driven educational approach.
