What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Family Engagement, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site location: Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, La Jolla (San Diego), or Los Angeles (South Bay), CA
- Annual salary: $200,000
- Full-time position
- Comprehensive benefits: Health, vision, dental, 401k, PTO, and more
This position anchors that relationship. You will establish yourself as the person families turn to when uncertainty arises, when they seek a second perspective, or when they wish to discuss something meaningful. Your credibility will be earned through consistency and insight—not obligation. Your influence will define how families perceive their child's educational experience at one of five California locations: Palo Alto, Piedmont, downtown San Francisco, La Jolla, or South Bay (Los Angeles).
Alpha represents a fundamental departure from traditional schooling. Students complete core academic work in two hours daily through AI-powered platforms, dedicating the remainder of their day to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied execution. No traditional lectures. No filler assignments. Results that rank in the top 1% nationally. Our families are discerning, well-connected, and often cautious. They value clear reasoning over rehearsed messaging.
You will steward that dialogue across the long term—not only during enrollment, but year after year. You will speak with authority about AI: its mechanisms, its shortcomings, and its significance—particularly with families who launch companies, fund them, or demand rigor in every choice. If this depth of conversation feels daunting, the role will challenge you. If it energizes you, this becomes one of the most intellectually stimulating opportunities in education.
This is not client management. This is the cultivation of enduring trust with ultra-high-net-worth families who expect confidentiality, discernment, and reliability. If that context resonates—and you integrate AI into your daily workflow to think, communicate, and execute more effectively—the scope of this opportunity will be immediately clear.
What You Will Be Doing
- Serve as the primary relationship steward for every family on campus, cultivating trust that deepens over time
- Identify and address concerns proactively with confidentiality, efficiency, and careful judgment
- Maintain consistent visibility during critical touchpoints: morning arrivals, afternoon departures, and curated parent gatherings
- Facilitate substantive, ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with analytically minded, technology-literate families
- Architect and iterate on community experiences that foster belonging, endorsement, and word-of-mouth growth
- Overseeing admissions pipelines or enrollment metrics—your remit starts after families commit
- Working primarily from a desk or relying solely on email correspondence—this demands physical presence
- Using prepared scripts or avoiding difficult inquiries about AI or educational philosophy
- Depending on established frameworks—you will create structure in spaces where none currently exists
- Viewing families as transactional accounts—this role values judgment over checklist execution
Establish and maintain profound trust with ultra-high-net-worth families, securing sustained retention, advocacy, and confidence in Alpha's AI-driven educational framework.
