What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Admissions and Enrollment, Alpha - $200,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site (multi-city)
- W2
- $200K/yr
You will be the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't sit right, or when they want to share a milestone they trust you'll appreciate. You'll develop enough familiarity with each family to sense their needs before they articulate them—and you'll possess the judgment and composure to address what they bring with tact, warmth, and seamless execution. Over time, you won't simply be affiliated with their child's school. You'll become woven into how they navigate this stage of their family's journey.
This depth of trust isn't the result of a system. It emerges from presence—consistent, daily, and unhurried. You'll be on hand during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, at the evening gatherings that hold significance, and in the private conversations that never appear on a schedule. You'll cultivate a community that families instinctively protect, where inclusion feels organic and referrals arise because the experience justifies them.
Alpha operates outside the conventional school framework. Students complete core academics in two hours daily through AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No traditional lectures. No filler assignments. Top 1% outcomes nationally. The families who commit are investing in something they deeply value—but conviction requires cultivation.
You'll sustain that dialogue with every family, through every hesitation, for the duration of their child's enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels like a weight, this position isn't the right match. If it feels like the most compelling conversation you could be facilitating, continue reading.
What You Will Be Doing
- Take ownership of the relationship with every family on campus—the continuous, evolving relationship that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely accommodated
- Identify concerns before they surface as conversations, and address them with the tact and interpersonal skill that preserves trust
- Maintain visible presence where families gather: morning drop-off (7–9am), afternoon pick-up (2–4pm), evening parent functions, and select weekend events
- Develop a campus community with authentic depth—occasions, rituals, and engagement points that make families feel they're part of something deserving of commitment
- Foster parent advocates through organic means, delivering experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge naturally
- Sustain the continuous dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families managing screen time questions, skeptical relatives, and periodic uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but across their entire campus tenure
- Recognize when a family isn't aligned with the community and manage that realization with the same care you apply universally—safeguarding the community is integral to serving it
- Establish the systems and routines this position demands in a setting where the framework is still under development
- Overseeing enrollment—that falls within the Admissions Director's scope; your responsibilities commence when families join and intensify thereafter
- Operating from an office—your physical presence within the community defines the role
- Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening functions are integral to the position, not occasional requirements
- Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or a fully staffed team—you function with significant autonomy and create what's necessary
- Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this role favors authentic connection over procedural adherence
Serve as the central trusted relationship within every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence during challenging periods, cultivate a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish the conditions under which satisfied families become active advocates.
Basic Requirements
- Currently reside within commuting distance of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference for candidates with existing community roots): Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Bethesda, MD; Charlotte, NC; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Park City, UT; Chantilly, VA; or Kirkland, WA
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- 5 years in a relationship capacity serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any context where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal sophistication were equally valued as technical competence
- Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging situations with sophisticated families and conclude with trust reinforced
- Authentic presence and communication approach that builds confidence rapidly with affluent, high-expectation families—not polished in a manner that appears rehearsed
- Direct familiarity with independent, private, or non-traditional education—either professionally or as a parent—that provides you credible footing when families challenge the model
- Authentic conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that belief credibly across years of parent relationships, extending well beyond the initial enrollment discussion
- Availability for variable hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening functions 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend programming
Exceptional candidates will have at least one of the following:
- Established relationships within the local affluent community that would provide you immediate, organic credibility on campus
- Private school or independent school background with demonstrated success in family retention and community cultivation—not solely enrollment metrics
- Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the basis for sustained trust
- A natural ability to design experiences—events, moments, settings—where people feel they belong to something worth defending
- Prior startup or early-stage involvement where you built from scratch and remained steady when circumstances shifted rapidly
