What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD position at Crossover?
- On-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ — we provide relocation support
- $150,000/year
- Full-time
Alpha operates on a two-hour learning model. Morning academics are covered by adaptive applications, freeing your time for the work that genuinely transforms a child: motivation, accountability, life skills, and coaching. You directly own a cohort of K-3 students and simultaneously coach the Guides (Alpha's term for the adults who inspire and coach the children) accountable for their daily growth. You remain hands-on daily, never managing remotely from an office.
Your typical day alternates among three core activities. You analyze performance data and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides are falling behind. You conduct coaching conversations that leave people with a concrete next action rather than generic praise. And you capture and sustain the focus of a room filled with five- to nine-year-olds during workshops on public speaking, concentration, or how to give and receive feedback.
When you identify what succeeds, you document it. The playbooks you create become the benchmark all other Guides follow, extending your influence from a single cohort to the entire level. Demonstrating your ability to scale that quality is your path to expanded leadership responsibility.
If you view lowering expectations as compassion, this role is not for you. If you see raising them as respect, submit your application.
What You Will Be Doing
- Coaching both Guides and students by analyzing performance data, observing classroom dynamics, and delivering direct feedback, then maintaining accountability to quantifiable goals
- Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, concentration, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and feedback exchange
- Conducting individual and small-group motivation sessions that link each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic advancement
- Developing and iterating on playbooks that convert your most effective practices into repeatable systems executable by other Guides
- Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands
- Providing academic instruction or lecturing from the front; adaptive applications handle content delivery while you coach people
- Reducing expectations when a student encounters difficulty
- Managing from a distance as instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain embedded with your cohort every day
- Managing the entire campus budget, operations, and parent relations; a Campus Lead owns that so you can concentrate on student and Guide results
- Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or adhering to a standard K-12 curriculum
Fulfill Alpha's three commitments to every K-3 student: they love school, learn at twice the rate, and develop outstanding life skills and independence.

- Experience leading a team of 5 or more individuals, with authority to hire and remove team members based on performance results
- Experience building, launching, or substantially growing a program, team, school, or initiative from the ground up rather than inheriting an established one
- Comfortable operating in a school that rejects conventional teaching methods
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Master's degree in a related discipline
- Proven track record leveraging metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and achieve measurable improvement
- Experience coaching or managing other adults toward quantifiable outcomes, not simply executing the work yourself
