Music Publishing Operations Specialist

Our global Tech client is seeking a Music Publishing Operations Specialist to join their team for the next 12 months, 40 hours/week. This role is hybrid onsite 3 days a week in New York, NY.  

Role Summary
The Music Publishing Operations Specialist supports end to end music publishing operations with a focus on data accuracy, ownership research, and process improvement. This role requires a proactive self starter with at least 2 years of experience in operations, data management, or a related field, and a university degree. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, drives automation and optimization, and is passionate about improving the quality and completeness of rights holder information across the music publishing ecosystem.
 

Top 3 Must Have Skills:

Ticket/case management or triage experience 
Report QC / data auditing experience
Experience with process automation tools 
 

Nice to Have:

Experience with AI/automation tools (e.g., ChatGPT, scripting basics, workflow automation platforms)
Experience researching publishing ownership information using third-party tools.
Knowledge of music rights management tools.
 

Additional Qualifications:

Experience in music publishing operations or a similar role within the music industry
Familiarity with music publishing data, including metadata, ownership shares, and royalty data
Experience researching and verifying publishing ownership using third party tools
Knowledge of music publishing data exchange formats such as CWR or DDEX
Experience with process automation, scripting, or data tools such as Python or SQL
Familiarity with music rights management systems and tools
2 years of experience in operations, data management, or a related field
University degree required
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Proficiency in spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets or Excel and comfort working with large datasets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast paced and ambiguous environment
Strong problem solving mindset and attention to detail

Responsibilities

Manage end to end music publishing operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with partner requirements
Research and verify music publishing ownership data using internal systems and external third party tools to identify gaps and improve data completeness
Support data ingestion, validation, and quality assurance across publishing data systems
Develop and implement scalable automation solutions and process optimizations to improve operational efficiency and build future ready systems
Continuously iterate on processes and solutions, learning from experience and embracing innovation
Collaborate cross functionally with internal teams and external partners to resolve data discrepancies and operational issues
Monitor, analyze, and report on key operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
Maintain and enhance documentation for processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures
