Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Location: Lowell, MA
Pay: $35 – $45 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00/4:00/5:00 PM (45–50 hours per week, overtime available)
Position Overview
A well-established heavy truck and trailer repair shop in Howell, MA is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team. This is a hands-on role working on a wide range of heavy trucks and some trailers — with an emphasis on full diagnostics, engine teardown and rebuilds, and complex repair work. The ideal candidate has solid diagnostic and computer diagnostic skills, strong mechanical knowledge across multiple truck brands and systems, and the ability to independently handle full-service repairs.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, drivelines, and other mechanical systems on heavy trucks and trailers
Perform complete engine teardowns, rebuilds, and overhauls — not just part replacements
Utilize diagnostic software and computer systems to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
Conduct preventive maintenance including inspections, oil changes, fluid checks, and system testing
Work on various makes and models, adapting to different systems and configurations
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and up to quality standards
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a diesel technician or heavy truck mechanic
Strong Diagnostic And Computer Diagnostic Skills Required
Experience with multiple makes and models of heavy trucks; trailer experience a plus
Ability to perform full engine rebuilds and in-depth mechanical work
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and pride in craftsmanship
Must have own tools and valid driver’s license
Compensation & Benefits
