What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sponsorship Sales position at CPAC — Future of Freedom?
Ideal For
A student who wants quota experience on a résumé and is energized rather than discouraged by cold outreach.
The Sponsorship Sales Intern supports the sale of exhibitor and sponsorship packages for the organization's events. This is a revenue role with a measurable pipeline — genuinely different in temperament from philanthropic work, and the closest thing in the program to a quota-carrying experience.
Core Duties
- Research and build prospect lists of potential exhibitors and sponsors.
- Conduct outbound prospecting by phone and email and log all activity.
- Maintain the sales pipeline with accurate stage, value, and next-action data.
- Prepare and send sponsorship packages, proposals, and pricing materials.
- Support sales calls and meetings, including preparation and follow-up documentation.
- Track sold benefits and coordinate fulfillment with the Events department.
- Conduct renewal outreach to prior-year exhibitors and sponsors.
- Report on pipeline volume, conversion, and revenue against goal.
Role-Specific Qualifications
- Comfort with cold outreach, rejection, and follow-up persistence.
- Interest in sales, business development, or entrepreneurship.
- Pipeline discipline — accurate records maintained without prompting.
- Professional communication with business decision-makers.
Standard Qualifications — All Internships
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university; eligible for the Federal Work Study Program where applicable.
- Senior in high school, recent high school graduate, or GED equivalent.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer literacy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
- Discretion with confidential and pre-release information; adherence to all organizational policies, including confidentiality, data handling, and workplace safety standards.
- Prior office or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
Internship: minimum 16 hours per week, in person, Alexandria, VA. You are allowed to work up to 40 hours a week with limited overtime opportunities.
Every intern completes the program's five core competencies and attends the annual conference. Expect a written midpoint review, weekly one-on-one supervision, and a documented portfolio of completed work.
