In this dynamic and high-impact position, you’ll serve as a senior legal advisor under the direction of the General Counsel, providing strategic counsel on complex legal matters that influence Covered California’s programs, operations, and governance. You’ll lead a team of skilled legal professionals, collaborate with executive leadership, and tackle legal, policy, and operational challenges with statewide implications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on enterprise-wide legal risks and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Guiding the Board and executive leadership on regulatory requirements.
- Overseeing legal staff, privacy matters, employment issues, and complex contracts.
- Representing Covered California in administrative hearings and litigation.

What We’re Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:
- 7-15 years of progressively responsible legal experience, including expertise in California and federal healthcare law.
- Proven success advising executive leadership on high-impact legal and operational matters.
- Leadership experience managing attorneys, legal operations, or program administration.
- Experience with complex contracts, privacy, regulatory compliance, and legislative analysis.
- A track record of overseeing or working effectively with outside counsel on litigation and advisory matters.

$13,470.00 - $20,155.00 per Month
