Job Description
General Statement of Duties
An individual in this role will assist the tax department during the appeals process. Experience with the tax system and interacting with taxpayers related to their appeals inquiries is critical.
Illustrative Examples of Work
- Assist the taxpayers with filing appeals.
- Collect and review the appeals for additional information
- Provide information about future correspondence
- Enter appeal information into tax system
- Scan appeal and related documentation into tax system
- Assist appraisers with phone calls, research, and other miscellaneous tasks

- Must have good computer skills.

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and other employees.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational support functions of fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess visual acuity to be able to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform accounting, work on a computer terminal and perform extensive reading.
- Workers are not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
Education and Experience
- Must possess 6 years’ experience in Property Tax; preferably in a municipal/local government position
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid North Carolina Driver License.
