POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the Direction of Nursing Administration, oversees all aspects for the delivery of patient care and documentation for the Nursing Unit. Responsible for the twenty-four hour continuity of care for the Nursing Unit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports to Nursing Administration in overseeing nursing coverage to provide safe nursing care for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the Nursing Unit.
- Performs in a Leadership role as a coordinator of the Nursing unit to implement unit based direction, including unit based goals. Functions as a role model for all staff on the Nursing Unit.
- Directs and monitors staff assignments work performance of all nursing personnel as it relates to his/her job description(s) and the individual needs of the residents, for all shifts.
- Coordinates all Nursing Unit staff, insuring that assignments are completed and protocols, policies, and procedures are followed.
- Responsible for mentoring staff, providing feedback including positive specific observations and constructive criticism in the spirit of teaching. Also responsible to recommend or initiate verbal and written counseling, and referrals for disciplinary action.
- Provides patient care daily.
- Plans and holds documented Nursing Unit meetings for all shifts, including interdisciplinary team members as appropriate. Coordinates resident care among all three shifts over a 24 hour period, 7 days a week.
- Participates in the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures designed to insure comfort and safety of residents and continuity of resident care in collaboration with other healthcare personnel.
- Responsible as a member of nursing administrative team, for weekend and holiday coverage for the Nursing Facility, as required.
- Coordinates for the specific Nursing Unit all written documentation for capturing medical record clinical, reimbursement and administrative areas.
- May be required to act in accordance with the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
- Current License as a Practical Nurse by the Department of State I Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs in The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Minimum of 2 years required with 3-5 years working experience preferred, in the Long Term Care environment.
- Working knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well regulations that pertain to long-term care
