POSITION SUMMARY:

As a valued member of the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, the parks and recreation Natural Resources Assistant will assist the department in the planning and implementation of natural resource management projects and the management of the park volunteer program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with natural resource planning, management, and maintenance.
• Plan and coordinate volunteer events.
• Implement natural resource projects, such as planting or invasive plant removal.
• Survey vegetation and conduct natural areas assessments.
• Work with community organizations on natural resource improvement projects.

• Currently enrolled in coursework or have completed a degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Ecology, Botany, or similar field.
• Ability to identify common native and invasive plants.
• Comfort with using non-powered landscaping tools (shovel, loppers, rake, handsaw, etc.)
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Current FBI Fingerprint, PA Child Abuse, and PA Criminal Background Check clearances as required by law.
• Possess a valid Driver's License.
• Must be available for some weekend work as the job demands.
