Crop Transformation Systems Research Associate
The Crop Transformation Systems Research Associate will be a key member of the Biotechnology/Trait Discovery & Optimization team at Corteva Agriscience.
Responsibilities:
- Follow standard operation procedures to generate high-quality transgenic and genome editing events for traits discovery, optimization, and product development.
- Perform crop transformation work involving embryo isolation or explant preparation, transformation, sub-culturing tissue culture materials during selection, and regenerating plants.
- Conduct process improvement experiments to test new ideas and technologies aimed at enhancing overall transformation efficiency or event quality.
- Maintain accurate electronic and legal notebook records for all research work, summarizing results, noting areas for improvement, and executing lab work while following safety and ergonomic standards.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal/team communication skills, organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a desire to work as a member of a team of scientists achieving common goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, plant science, agronomy, or equivalent education.
- Excellent written/verbal communication, basic computer, and organizational skills are required.
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively as an independent contributor to meet work demands and deadlines is essential.
- General knowledge of plant biology and biotechnology, with working knowledge and experience in cell and tissue culture and plant transformation highly desired.
