Job Summary
We are seeking a Research Associate (RA) to join our team at Johnston, Iowa Research Center. As an RA, you will play a key role in supporting various activities, including multi-crop/multifunctional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate as a member of a multi-crop/multifunction team for all SPD, Biotech, and other functional accountability.
- Support breeding experiment creation, seed sourcing, and sampling for all crops and field trials.
- Assist with pollinating activities and hand harvesting for seed production.
- Lead shelling efforts and assist with other nursery responsibilities, such as delays, stand counts, maintenance, rouging, and discards.
- Collaborate with team members to map out fields and detail experiments by deadlines.
Requirements:
- You must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture or a scientific field preferred, with experience in Agronomy, Biology, Plant Breeding, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with diverse groups.
- Self-motivated, with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to safety and risk management practices.
- Able to climb, work in elevated areas, stand and sit for extended periods, work outdoors and indoors in varying conditions, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive motion tasks.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
