Overview
We are seeking a Network & Systems Engineer to support and enhance a growing, Microsoft-based infrastructure in a high-growth engineering and manufacturing environment.
This is a systems-focused position centered on servers, virtualization, and overall infrastructure improvement. You’ll act as a key contributor in building out processes, improving system reliability, and supporting a rapidly scaling organization. While you’ll collaborate on network initiatives, this is not a network ownership position.
Responsibilities
- Support and improve Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and virtualized (Hyper-V) environments
- Maintain and enhance physical and virtual server infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure issues
- Assist with backup, patching, and disaster recovery processes
- Contribute to infrastructure improvements and scalability planning as the company grows
- Support and help mature IT operations, including documentation and processes
- Assist with network-related initiatives (firewalls, VPNs, connectivity) in partnership with network leadership
- Support early-stage cybersecurity efforts and help improve overall security posture
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure-related issues
- Assist in building out IT processes, including ticketing and operational workflows
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to support production environments
Environment
- Microsoft-based infrastructure (Windows Server, Microsoft 365)
- Hyper-V virtualization with a mix of physical and virtual servers
- Primarily on-prem environment
- Engineering/manufacturing setting with CAD (SolidWorks) usage
- Infrastructure and processes are actively being built and optimized
- Rapid growth from ~100 to 300 employees
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering
- Strong experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and virtualization (Hyper-V preferred)
- Experience supporting and improving server environments (physical virtual)
- Working knowledge of networking (VPNs, firewalls, switching)
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery processes
- PowerShell scripting experience preferred
- Solid understanding of IT security fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-growing, evolving environment
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or CAD-heavy environments preferred
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Certifications are a plus, but hands-on experience is prioritized
