Position Summary
The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading the company’s sales strategy, revenue growth, and customer expansion within the transportation and logistics sector, with a strong emphasis on flatbed transportation services. This executive leader will develop and execute strategic sales initiatives, build and mentor a high-performing sales team, and expand relationships with key customers across construction, manufacturing, and industrial markets. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in transportation sales, a deep understanding of flatbed freight operations, and a proven track record of building and managing successful sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth within the flatbed transportation and logistics market.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team to consistently meet and exceed revenue targets and performance metrics.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across key industries such as construction, building materials, steel, and industrial manufacturing.
- Maintain and expand relationships with strategic customers, ensuring high levels of service and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with operations, pricing, and logistics teams to ensure service capabilities align with customer needs and market opportunities.
- Establish sales performance metrics, forecasting processes, and reporting structures to monitor sales activity and pipeline development.
- Oversee contract negotiations and pricing strategies to ensure profitable growth.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade associations, and networking opportunities to enhance brand presence and generate leads.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback to inform sales strategy and business planning.
- Partner with executive leadership to support overall company growth initiatives and long-term strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- 10 years of transportation sales experience, with significant experience in flatbed transportation sales.
- 3 years of sales management or leadership experience, including building and leading sales teams.
- Demonstrated success in growing revenue and securing large transportation or logistics contracts.
- Strong understanding of freight markets, pricing strategies, and logistics operations.
- Proven ability to develop strategic sales plans and execute against aggressive growth targets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and sales performance reporting tools.
Preferred Experience
- Experience selling flatbed transportation services related to steel, construction materials, heavy equipment, or industrial freight.
- Existing industry relationships and a strong professional network within the Southeast transportation market.
