Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller supports the organization’s financial operations with a focus on oversight of specialized accounts and internal reporting processes. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance efforts, and assisting in the management of the accounting team. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge along with experience in regulated financial environments.
Core Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including financial reporting and the administration of designated accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to applicable standards and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, internal reports, and budgets.
- Monitor account activity, including receipts, disbursements, and transfers, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with internal policies.
- Support supervision of accounting staff by providing guidance, training, and workflow coordination.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries during audits and reviews.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Perform financial analysis to support leadership decision-making and operational planning.
- Ensure timely processing of transactions, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.
- Stay informed on relevant accounting standards, regulatory updates, and industry practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; professional certification (e.g., CPA) preferred.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to regulated or specialized account environments.
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, presentations).
Salary : $115,000 - $145,000
