Responsibilities
- Assist with coordinating new substation construction with contractors and internal teams
- Support scheduled maintenance, repairs, and recordkeeping for substations
- Help install and remove portable substations
- Coordinate construction projects within substations and transmission lines
- Communicate with supervisors to meet schedules and quality standards
- Promote teamwork, technical growth, and a positive work environment
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation
- Collect load and voltage data for engineering analysis
- Install and repair overcurrent relays, microprocessor-based controls, and RTUs
- Perform switching operations to restore power and support maintenance
- Repair and replace substation and related equipment
- Troubleshoot complex and intermittent line issues
- Read electrical prints and build wiring for relay panels
- Coordinate material availability with stores prior to job start
- Be available for on-call work, including weekends, holidays, and after-hours
- Maintain professional relationships with employees, members, and vendors
- Follow safety procedures, maintain regular attendance, and handle confidential information appropriately
- Strong knowledge of substation systems, relay panels, and electrical controls
- Experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting relays, controls, and RTUs
- Ability to read electrical prints and perform wiring construction
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, stoop, kneel, and work at heights over 100 feet
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate heavy equipment, including digger trucks and drilling equipment
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and around loud noise and hazards
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, non-standard hours, and travel overnight as needed
- Strong communication skills and commitment to safety and professionalism
- Ability to work independently in physically demanding environments
