Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in providing manufacturing support to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively. They collaborate closely with various teams to advise on design optimization for consistent and cost-effective manufacturability. Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, this role involves overseeing engineering projects, managing project schedules, ensuring quality requirements are met, and providing support to internal clients.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop production costing using estimated labor, machining times, and component costs from vendors.
- Prepare written and graphical work instructions to communicate manufacturing requirements to production personnel.
- Develop processes compliant with industry quality systems and apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
- Advise on engineering work and contribute to new product development teams.
- Independently identify, analyze, select, and recommend methods for improving personnel, material, and utilities utilization.
- Manage special projects for various products and processes, improving manufacturing efficiency through workflow analysis and equipment layout planning.
- Coordinate with quality control activities to resolve production problems and maximize product reliability while minimizing costs.
- Participate in and present at critical meetings with internal or external clients, authorities, and regulators.
- Maintain awareness of safety regulations, participate in safety training, and report unsafe conditions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or relevant fields.
- Minimum of 8 years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including GD&T.
- Experience with manufacturing materials such as carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Hands-on experience with CNC and manual machining operations, including programming of CNC equipment.
- Knowledge of work holding, fixturing, tooling, automated setups, and on-machine verification.
- Familiarity with welding fabrication processes and standards.
- Proficiency in common engineering and office software/tools, including CAD, SAP, Excel, and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
