Job Overview

The Lead Machinist oversees floor machinists and assembly personnel, operating machinery to produce wheels, axles, and various tooling while ensuring safety and assisting the Service Shop team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside shop employees to fulfill customer requests.
• Ensure machined parts meet specifications.
• Supervise assembly personnel to ensure components are assembled correctly.
• Maintain on-time delivery of products according to customer lead time.
• Manage ordering of parts and materials through the SAP system.
• Write inspection reports as necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility floor.
• Conduct safety walks and equipment checks.
• Available for after-hours work as needed.
• Operate machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
• Read blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform dimensional layout and confirm conformity to prints.
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and PPE requirements.
• Run multiple types of machines independently.
• Use precision measuring tools effectively.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 10 years of machining experience, preferably in oil & gas or related industries.
• Proficiency in precision measuring tools.
• Ability to lift at least 40 pounds and perform physical labor.
• Adaptability to evolving work requirements.
• Certification to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and cranes.
• Vocational Technical Certificate.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read instructions and drawings.
• Effective communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
