Business Development Manager – Industrial
Location: Jones Creek, TX (Hybrid)
Job Summary
We are seeking an Business Development Manager to own and grow key customer relationships within an industrial, project-based environment. This role combines relationship management with proactive business development, focusing on expanding existing accounts while ensuring successful project execution.
You will serve as the primary liaison between customers and internal teams, working closely with estimating, production, and operations to deliver projects while identifying opportunities for additional work.
This is a “hunter gatherer” role—ideal for someone who can build trust with customers while actively driving account growth in an operational, service-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Account Ownership & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts and key customers
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with operations-level and decision-making stakeholders
- Develop a deep understanding of customer operations, priorities, and long-term needs
- Conduct regular check-ins, site visits, and strategic conversations to strengthen partnerships
Account Growth & Business Development
- Identify and drive revenue growth within existing accounts through proactive engagement
- Recognize opportunities for repeat work, expanded scope, and new services
- Support contract discussions, pricing conversations, and scope expansion where applicable
- Maintain awareness of customer pipelines, upcoming projects, and future opportunities
New Business Development & Sales
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and through personal networks, referrals, and industry engagement
- Develop and maintain an active sales pipeline, managing opportunities from initial outreach through close
- Conduct client meetings, site visits, and presentations to position services and expand business relationships
- Partner with internal teams to develop proposals, pricing strategies, and scopes of work for new and expanded opportunities
- Negotiate and close new business while ensuring alignment with operational capabilities
- Consistently meet or exceed revenue growth targets across assigned accounts and new opportunities
Operational Coordination & Execution
- Act as the bridge between customers and internal teams including Estimating, Production, Procurement, and Operations
- Ensure alignment on project scope, timelines, and delivery expectations
- Proactively manage schedule changes, scope adjustments, and customer expectations
- Identify risks early and drive resolution to maintain customer trust
Customer Experience & Retention
- Ensure a consistent, high-quality experience across all customer interactions
- Address customer concerns with urgency while maintaining long-term relationship health
- Anticipate customer needs and communicate proactively to avoid escalations
- Maintain strong account health and long-term retention
Market Awareness & Industry Engagement
- Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, and customer needs within industrial sectors
- Identify new opportunities within existing networks and customer relationships
- Participate in networking events, trade shows, and industry associations to strengthen market presence
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and account activity
- Provide regular updates on account growth, revenue forecasts, and pipeline visibility
- Ensure CRM data is current and reflects all active opportunities and customer insights
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on project execution and delivery commitments
- Communicate customer priorities, risks, and opportunities clearly across departments
- Support internal teams during project kickoff, scope changes, and contract discussions
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
- 5 years of experience in account management, business development, or customer-facing roles
- Experience in industrial, energy, construction, fabrication, or field-service environments
- Proven ability to grow accounts and identify revenue opportunities within existing customers
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across operations and leadership teams
- Experience working cross-functionally with operations, production, or project-based teams
- Ability to manage multiple accounts in a fast-paced, operational environment
Preferred:
- Background in oil & gas (midstream/downstream), fabrication, coating, or industrial services
- Experience with project-based or recurring service work
- Familiarity with contract negotiation, pricing, and scope management
- Experience using CRM systems and managing account pipelines
