Constellation Search Group is looking for a VP of Operations for a full-time direct hire position. The VP of Operations will report to the CFO and lead the centralization, standardization, and operational buildout of shared services across the company's portfolio of operating companies. This role is responsible for critical back-office operations including payroll, benefits, insurance operations, procurement, vendor alignment, process standardization, and cross-company operational integration. The candidate must thrive in growth-stage environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the centralization of shared services across multiple brands including payroll, benefits, and insurance operations.
- Build scalable operating systems, workflows, and accountability mechanisms from the ground up.
- Take ownership of major cross-functional projects ensuring timely and impactful delivery.
- Develop a differentiated operating model for both larger and smaller business units within the portfolio.
- Conduct on-site assessments to identify operational gaps and ensure consistent execution across the operating companies.
- Standardize processes across operational areas while balancing the needs of individual entity.
- Relieve the finance organization of operational responsibilities through a dedicated operations structure.
- Consolidate procurement practices including vendor alignment and spend discipline.
- Lead and develop direct reports in overseeing benefits, payroll, and insurance operations.
- Collaborate closely with the CFO, finance, brand leadership, and stakeholders to drive consistency.
- Proactively address problems, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions.
- Maintain a customer-first mindset ensuring shared services support the needs of stakeholders.
- Establish performance metrics and accountability standards across the shared services function.
- Support future growth by building scalable infrastructure that enables continued expansion.
Qualifications:
- 10 to 15 years of progressive operational leadership experience.
- Proven success building and scaling shared services functions from the ground up in growth-stage environments.
- Experience in complex industries with revenues between $25M and $500M or comparable operational complexity.
- Working knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, and insurance operations strongly preferred.
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated track record of driving initiatives to completion.
- Operationally minded with a bias toward execution, accountability, and measurable results.
- High degree of conscientiousness with a service-oriented mindset and comfort navigating ambiguity without reliance on large corporate infrastructure.
- Demonstrated track record of high performance through professional accomplishments or notable extracurricular achievements.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to build scalable systems and processes.
- MBA required, preferably from a top 15 program.
