Machine Operator – Metal Polishing

Connect Staffing is hiring a Machine Operator – Metal Polishing for a manufacturing facility in Houston, TX. In this role, you will operate polishing equipment to remove excess metal and surface defects from rotor bars and hardware using abrasive belts and wheels. 

Pay:$22–$27/hr

Schedule: Mon–Fri 5:00 pm–5:00 am (overnight, 12-hour shifts)

Location: Houston, TX

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Work Environment: Manufacturing Plant / Factory

Overtime: Daily

Responsibilities

• You'll spend most of your time operating polishing equipment to remove metal and surface defects from rotor bars and hardware. You'll also:
• Select and attach abrasive belts or wheels to the polisher based on grain size, finish requirements, and product specifications
• Inspect finished parts to verify finish acceptability and quality standards
• Use hand-held measuring tools to verify part dimensions and specifications
• Complete labor cards, job tickets, and production documentation for your assigned area
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and ensure all machine guards and safety equipment are in place before operation

Minimum Requirements

• 2 year of machine operation experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and follow routers
• Ability to perform basic calculations and use hand-held measuring tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with polishing, grinding, deburring, or surface finishing equipment
• Familiarity with abrasive belt or wheel selection for different metals and finishes
• Experience in metal fabrication, rotor manufacturing, or industrial component production
• Knowledge of quality inspection processes and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Preferred prior job titles: Machine Operator, Polisher, Grinder, Metal Finisher, Surface Finishing Operator, Deburring Operator, Production Operator, Manufacturing Operator

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Ability to work at a fast pace and meet production standards
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and perform repetitive hand movements with fine coordination
• Steel-toe boots required
• Drug screen required
• Background check required
• Must be authorized to work in the United States (E-Verify)
