Quantitative Risk Analyst – Capital Projects
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Hybrid – onsite Monday through Thursday, remote Friday
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 1 year, with potential to convert permanent
Pay: $60–80/hr DOE, with potential flexibility for highly qualified candidates
Connect Search is partnering with a large energy infrastructure company seeking a Quantitative Risk Analyst to support large-scale construction and capital projects.
This role will focus on identifying, modeling, and quantifying cost, schedule, delivery, and execution risks across major projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project controls, cost/schedule risk analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, Excel-based modeling, and capital project reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Monte Carlo simulations, sensitivity analysis, and scenario modeling
- Quantify contingency, risk exposure, and confidence levels such as P50, P80, and P90
- Analyze cost, schedule, procurement, contract, delivery, and project execution risks
- Partner with project managers, estimators, schedulers, engineers, and project controls teams to identify and validate risks
- Prepare clear project risk reports, dashboards, and executive summaries
- Support improvements to risk methodologies, tools, reporting processes, and data quality
- Work with large datasets and multiple project inputs across large-scale capital projects
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in quantitative risk analysis, project controls, construction project controls, capital project analysis, cost risk analysis, or schedule risk analysis
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulations and project-based risk analysis
- Strong Excel skills
- Solid understanding of construction estimating, scheduling, project execution, and cost/schedule risk
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with project managers, engineers, schedulers, estimators, and leadership teams
Preferred Experience:
- @RISK, Crystal Ball, Primavera Risk Analysis, or similar simulation/risk modeling tools
- Primavera P6
- Power BI
- Earned value management
- Cost control systems
- Large capital projects within energy, infrastructure, pipeline, EPC, industrial, or construction environments
- Contract risk, procurement risk, claims-related risk, or contingency modeling experience
Additional Details:
- Initial work location is in Houston’s Greenway Plaza area, with the company moving to CityCentre during the summer
- Schedule is onsite Monday through Thursday and remote on Fridays
- Expected start timeframe is August
- Contract is expected to run at least one year, with potential to convert permanent
