We have partnered with a privately held, vertically integrated real estate investment and development firm on a new (Hybrid) Director-level Accounting leader to oversee a dynamic portfolio of operating assets and development projects. This is a high-visibility role partnering closely with executive leadership, capital partners, and operations teams to drive financial accuracy, technical excellence, and team development.
Director of Property Accounting- MIXED-USE
We are seeking a senior-level accounting leader to oversee financial reporting and operational accounting for a portfolio of Mixed-Use real estate assets and development initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, supporting capital activity, and leading a team of accounting professionals.
Compensation: up to $190k 20% bonus
Hybrid: 2 or 3 days in office / other days remote
** MUST HAVES** :
- Must be a current CPA
- Must have current Commercial Real Estate experience- Mixed Use (or Retail / Commercial) property Accounting
- Must currently be in a Supervisory role
- Must have at least 6 years of progressive Accounting experience
Preferred:
Public Accounting experience preferred
Key Responsibililties:
- Provide oversight of accounting operations across assigned assets and development entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Partner cross-functionally with asset management, development, and finance leadership to support project-level financial activity, including construction funding processes
- Serve as a primary point of coordination with lenders, investors, auditors, and other external stakeholders
- Oversee treasury-related activity, including review of reconciliations, capital transactions, cash positioning, and forward-looking liquidity analysis
- Review capital calls, funding packages, and draw submissions for third-party capital providers
- Ensure compliance with partnership agreements, loan documents, and other governing arrangements related to reserves, distributions, and write-offs
- Maintain adherence to applicable accounting standards (GAAP or other reporting frameworks), including oversight of complex transactions such as refinancings, acquisitions/dispositions, and capitalization of project costs
- Perform detailed review and analysis of general ledger activity and supporting schedules
- Oversee calculation, invoicing, and recording of management and development-related fee income
- Review periodic financial statements and supporting workpapers to confirm completeness and accuracy prior to distribution
- Research technical accounting matters and prepare documentation supporting conclusions for non-routine transactions
- Strengthen and monitor internal control processes to ensure operational and financial compliance
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts in collaboration with operations teams, including reconciliation of financial models to operating plans
- Oversee preparation of audited financial statements and coordinate audit support for complex accounting areas
- Guide preparation of tax projections and supporting documentation for external tax compliance providers
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members through structured oversight, training, and performance feedback
