TBG | The Bachrach Group is partnered with a leading global real estate investment firms in Texas on their search for a DIRECTOR of PROPERTY and DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTING. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of progressive property accounting experience— 3 of which in a leadership capacity, a BS/BA in accounting, finance, business administration, or economics as well as a current CPA.
This role will oversee accounting and administrative matters for mixed-use real estate projects and entities, as well as lead a team. The Director of Property and Development Accounting ensures accurate, timely reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP and governing agreements, provides leadership on complex accounting matters, and partners with internal teams and external stakeholders to support investment, financing, and operational objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to support operational and financial objectives.
- Oversee treasury activities, including bank reconciliation review, capital flow analysis, and cash forecasting.
- Approve funding requests, reserves, and write-offs in line with governing agreements.
- Ensure compliance with key legal and financial documents (e.g., loan, JV, and management agreements).
- Maintain accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards, including complex transactions.
- Perform general ledger oversight, analysis, and validation of periodic financial reporting.
- Review technical accounting positions for non-routine or complex transactions.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to protect assets and ensure reporting integrity.
- Manage complex ownership structures and monitor budget-to-actual performance.
- Support internal and external audits, including review of tax projections and supporting documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to accounting and operations teams.
- Lead team development, including training, performance management, and compensation input. Foster effective internal and external working relationships across teams.
- Evaluate systems, processes, and new initiatives to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Partner with leadership on departmental priorities, initiatives, and issue resolution.
- Review and refine ad hoc reporting and analyses for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or other relevant fields of study; CPA required.
- 7 years of professional accounting experience, including commercial real estate; public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Proven people-management experience with strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage complex accounting issues, deadlines, and cross-functional collaboration.

Location: Dallas Downtown Historic District
Schedule: HYBRID - 3 days onsite and 2 days WFH
Salary range: $140,000 to $165,000 DOE, plus bonus eligible
