The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shipping department. This position involves managing personnel, ensuring the accuracy of shipments and maintaining an efficient and safe warehouse environment. Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the shipping team, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and according to company standards.
- Review packing slips and verify the accuracy of shipments, ensuring items are properly logged and managed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all items shipped, including any discrepancies or issues that arise during the process.
- Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse lifting equipment to move and handle inventory, as necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes for better efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
- Provide training and ongoing support to team members on proper shipping procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Computer operation – printing labels, word processing, spreadsheets, generate reports and ability to effectively communicate via email.
- Experience using FedEx system or use of comparable system.
- Prior experience in filling out domestic/international shipping papers (bill of lading, international commercial invoices)
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- Strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize the tact and diplomacy required to foster a team environment while keeping projects on schedule and budget.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 5 years of shipping experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
