Job Purpose
The Shipping Specialist monitors an assigned customer list and ensures all freight functions including order pick/pack, freight assignment, documentation and ASN's are performed according to company and departmental guidelines. The position holder is expected to take ownership and be the authority as to the specific requirements of all customers on their assigned list. This includes making sure they are aware and take needed actions to ensure that all shipments meet customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs freight functions including shipping, documentation and ASN's. Maintain focus in their specialized areas and adhere to all company guidelines.
- Monitors, verifies that all routing guides, BOL’s, labels and other tools are updated so that shipped goods meet customer requirements. If unable to get clarification, requests support from Management.
- Makes sure shipments are picked, shipped and closed in a timely manner that fulfills customer requirements.
- Makes sure all documentation, paper and electronic is 100% accurate, complete and provided in a timely manner.
- Uses IT assets (Sage500, True Commerce, Freight view) prudently and wisely to accomplish assigned goals.
- Runs daily reports to make sure all functions in area are complete. Escalate/ resolve any issues that threaten to negatively impact our ability to pick, ship and close customer orders on time.
- Resides as the expert for assigned customer list.
- Demonstrates good judgement when deciding how to handle day to day and unusual issues with customers, vendors and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong keyboarding, data entry and computing skills
- Ability to work well with others in time-sensitive situations.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Normal office working conditions
- Requires long periods of sitting and computer usage
- Repetitive usage of keyboard and mouse
- Occasional lifting of file boxes, typically 10-40 pounds
- Occasionally the position holder might walk through a distribution center/ dock area.
