The Senior Manager, Accounting Strategy & Operations is responsible for leading and overseeing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across the accounting function, including oversight of the month-end close process, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, budget variance analysis, internal controls, and team development. The Senior Manager, Accounting Strategy & Operations partners cross-functionally with operational and executive leadership to support organizational growth, optimize financial performance, and drive process improvements. This position reports to the Controller.
This leadership position is focused on driving excellence within the accounting operations function through strategic support, operational partnership, and continuous process improvement. The Senior Manager, Accounting Strategy & Operations serves as a key business partner to operational leaders and is committed to delivering timely, accurate, and actionable financial information that supports effective decision-making and organizational performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the month-end close process, including review and approval of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and service-oriented team environment focused on accountability, development, and operational excellence.
- Maintain oversight of the general ledger, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Review monthly depreciation and amortization schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheet and income statement fluctuations, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Lead monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes, including trend analysis, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and operational performance reporting at the practice, location, provider, and consolidated levels.
- Partner with operations leadership during monthly operating reviews to evaluate financial performance, identify opportunities for operational improvement, and support strategic initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within accounting operations, including process optimization, automation opportunities, and enhancement of internal controls and financial policies.
- Assist with acquisition integration activities, including financial onboarding, process alignment, and operational support as needed.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders to support audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
- Support tax-related matters, including review and response to state and local notices and coordination of required documentation.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis projects to support executive decision-making and organizational objectives.
- Maintain a strong service mentality when partnering with field and operational personnel, ensuring professionalism, responsiveness, and effective communication.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year university
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a multi-state, multi-entity healthcare environment
- 5 years of Managerial Experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience managing accounting staff and workflows
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

- CPA designation
- Experience with Intacct ERP, FloQast, and/or Workday Adaptive Planning
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth healthcare or physician services environment
- Experience supporting acquisitions and integration activities
