Security Systems Service Technician

Huffmaster is a privately owned company based in Clawson, MI. Our Protective Services Group (PSG) offers on-site security services, consulting, and virtual services. The Protective Services Group department provides installation of Camera Systems, Access Control Installations and Integrations for clients, as well as additional VirSec monitoring services.

Job Description

The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a professional attitude, excellent customer service and communication skills. This is an important role as we grow our department in 2026. We support commercial properties nationally that require routine service and maintenance of Physical Security Systems ranging from Physical Access Control Systems, Security Video Management Systems and IP Cameras, Isolated Network Communications from local switches to Router and ISP connections.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting security system issues and coordinating repairs. Experience desired in troubleshooting, repair and installing cabling infrastructure, IP security cameras, access control systems, and network equipment.

Monitor Zoho Desk tickets and provide solutions.

Provide customer service to clients with minimal supervision.

Knowledge of CCTV, access control, IP cameras, control panels, access doors, card readers, badging system, video analytics, IP network and visitor management systems.

Provide training and support to customers on Avigilon Access Control Manager and Unity Video Systems.

$18-$25 hourly position, based on experience

Requirements

· 2 yrs. experience working on Physical Access Control Systems (Avigilon, Lenel, RS2, Genetec, Etc) – IP Video/Security Video Management Systems (Avigilon, Genetec, Milestone, Etc)

· Ability to travel across Continental US

· High school education or GED

TECHNICAL LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret work orders, purchase orders, etc. Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, all necessary information surrounding core job duties.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve technical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must possess strong analytical abilities and deductive reasoning skills. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic working knowledge of VMS platforms, IP camera types, and access control systems is mandatory. Microsoft Office suite mandatory.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Driver’s License with good driving record. Must be willing to obtain certificates through various training provided by the software manufacturers used within the Division.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While this position does not normally perform much physical work, the ability to inspect others work will require some physical demands. Employee must be able to climb ladders and other forms of equipment, have the strength to hold his or her body weight by arms, squat, kneel, bend, run, jump, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and be able to work long hours.

Although this position is an administrative one, it may require that the employee perform assessments, audits, or training on-site. Therefore, this position is required to travel from time to time.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
