Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: Hillsdale, Michigan
Reports To: Human Resources Manager
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day HR operations of the organization. This position partners closely with the HR Manager to ensure effective delivery of HR programs, compliance with employment laws, and effective HR practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to balance administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries
- Track, manage, and report on HR compliance requirements (federal, state, and company-specific)
- Coordinate and administer FMLA and other leave programs in accordance with applicable laws
- Support full-cycle recruiting efforts, including posting positions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and extending offers
- Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a smooth and compliant new-hire experience
- Maintain and update employee records within the HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Assist with employee relations matters through effective communication and consistent HR practices
- Coordinate company events, employee engagement initiatives, and internal communications
- Provide general HR support to employees and managers while partnering closely with the HR Manager
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist or similar HR role
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Experience with benefits administration, FMLA, recruiting, and HRIS systems
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Associates degree is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
