Position Summary
A well‑established convenience retail organization is conducting a highly confidential search for a District Manager to oversee a multi‑unit portfolio in the Western North Carolina region, including locations in and surrounding the Asheville market.
This role provides end‑to‑end leadership for store operations, people development, and financial performance across assigned locations. Due to business sensitivity, company identity and detailed regional scope will be disclosed only during later interview stages.
Key Responsibilities
Multi‑Unit Operations Leadership
- Lead and support a designated group of convenience store locations within Western North Carolina
- Ensure consistent execution of operational standards across fuel, foodservice, and retail
- Conduct regular store visits to assess performance, compliance, and brand execution
- Identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions
Financial & Performance Management
- Own district‑level performance aligned to sales, margin, labor, and controllable expenses
- Analyze KPIs and operational reports to drive continuous improvement
- Partner with regional leadership to execute performance recovery or growth initiatives
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Directly coach and develop Store Managers and multi‑unit leadership talent
- Drive accountability for performance, engagement, and safety
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and succession planning across the district
- Address employee relations matters in partnership with HR
Compliance, Safety & Risk
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, food, fuel, employment, and environmental regulations
- Promote a strong culture of safety, integrity, and operational discipline
- Respond to operational incidents or escalations as needed
Execution & Collaboration
- Execute corporate initiatives while adapting to local market conditions
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Facilities, HR, and Supply Chain partners
- Maintain professionalism and discretion in all internal and external interactions
Qualifications
Required
- 5–8 years of multi‑unit leadership experience in convenience retail, QSR, or high‑volume retail
- Demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed locations
- Strong understanding of store‑level P&L drivers
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders accountable
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently within the district
- High level of discretion and professionalism
Preferred
- Experience in fuel, foodservice, or 24/7 operating environments
- Oversight of 10–25 locations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
Work Environment
- Field‑based leadership role with significant travel throughout Western North Carolina
- Flexible schedule required, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
- Role may be based in or near Asheville, NC, though exact location is flexible
