Our client is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer II – Semiconductor to support advanced thin‑film processing and high‑vacuum PVD equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. You will work onsite at customer facilities in San Jose, CA, performing troubleshooting, installations, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on multi‑chamber cluster systems, robotics, and vacuum tools. This is a customer‑facing, full‑time onsite position requiring work inside a cleanroom environment.Onsite | No Visa Sponsorship | No Relocation AssistanceTravel: Up to 25% domestic; occasional international trainingRequirements: Equipment Support & TroubleshootingInstall and update equipment control software; maintain revision history.Troubleshoot hardware and software issues; implement corrective actions.Monitor, inspect, calibrate, and maintain semiconductor PVD/vacuum equipment to minimize downtime.Collect diagnostic data and collaborate with engineering teams for software‑related issues.Installations & Preventive MaintenanceParticipate in equipment installations at customer sites.Maintain accurate service documentation and field reports.Recommend spare parts and consumables for PMs and repairs.Perform preventive maintenance on multi‑chamber cluster systems and robotics.Customer & Team InterfaceProvide training and guidance to junior technicians.Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers.Comply with all customer site policies, including any health and safety requirements.Communicate effectively with customer contacts and internal engineering teams.Inventory & LogisticsMonitor service parts inventory to ensure availability for repair work.Travel within the assigned territory as needed (valid driver's license required)Qualifications/Must-Haves:Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.Strong analytical and methodical troubleshooting skills.Basic familiarity with PLCs and equipment control software.Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.Ability to work independently after 3–6 months of on‑the‑job training.HS Diploma or GED required, AA or BS in a technical field preferred.Experience with multi‑chamber cluster systems and robotics (required)Hands‑on experience with PVD or semiconductor vacuum equipment (required)1–2 years of experience in semiconductor equipment field service or a related technical role.Physical & Work Environment: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Extended driving at times.Work in time‑sensitive situations requiring rapid problem resolution.Close visual acuity for inspection of small parts and equipment.Frequent standing, walking, typing, grasping, talking, and hearing.Work primarily inside a cleanroom (full suit, mask, gloves, safety glasses)Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders.Exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, UV light, lasers, and confined spaces.Nice-to-Have:Bilingual communication skills helpful but not required (Japanese/English)
