Position Summary
The Director of Sales and Business Development is a high-impact growth leader responsible for driving Kirby’s revenue and brand presence across major retailers, distributors, and e-commerce channels in North America and key global markets. This role owns the sales strategy, builds powerhouse partnerships, and leads a high-performing team to launch products, win new business, and deliver exceptional results for a world-renowned premium brand.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive retail and channel sales strategies aligned with corporate objectives, brand positioning, and financial targets across North American and global markets.
- Lead annual and quarterly sales planning, including forecasting, pricing, promotional strategies, and territory planning for all Kirby product lines. Identify and develop new domestic and international channels, accounts, and partnerships to drive market entry, revenue growth, and brand visibility.
- Establish, grow, and maintain relationships with national retailers, specialty independent dealers, distributors, and e-commerce partners, serving as senior relationship owner for key accounts.Director-of-Sales-JD.pdf 1
- Negotiate contracts, commercial terms, incentive programs, and joint marketing initiatives to maximize profitability, brand activation, and long-term account health.
- Build and develop a high-performing sales team through hiring, coaching, performance management, and clear goal-setting tied to KPIs and incentive structures.
- Analyze sales performance, market trends, customer insights, and competitive activity, using CRM, ERP, and analytics tools to inform strategic and tactical adjustments. Collaborate with Finance, Marketing, Product Development, Operations, and Customer Service to align sales efforts with demand planning, inventory, and new product launches.
- Ensure execution of merchandising standards, training programs, and retail excellence across all points of sale and channels, both in-store and online.
- Represent The Kirby Company at key customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows, and prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and reports on sales performance and market opportunities.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 7 years of progressive experience in sales management, with a strong background in retail sales for premium consumer durables or home appliances and multi-channel distribution.
- Demonstrated results in managing national retail accounts and distributor/direct sales channels, achieving significant sales growth and market share expansion.
- Strong knowledge of sales analytics, CRM, and ERP systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Superior negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally as needed.
