Position Summary
The Capital Projects Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering capital projects across manufacturing facilities. This role oversees equipment installations, plant relocations, facility expansions, and process upgrades, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience in industrial or manufacturing environments and is comfortable working cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of capital projects including equipment moves, facility modifications, and new installations
- Develop project scopes, budgets (CAPEX), timelines, and resource plans
- Manage contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and startup of equipment as well as electrical, utilities and infrastructure coordination
- Coordinate plant relocations, layout changes, and production line reconfigurations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Monitor project progress, track costs, and provide regular status updates to leadership
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–10 years of project management experience in manufacturing, industrial, or capital projects environments
- Proven experience managing equipment installations, plant upgrades, or facility relocations
- Strong understanding of CAPEX budgeting and cost control
- Experience working in live production environments with minimal downtime
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification or equivalent
- Experience with automation, robotics, or process engineering
- Background in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Familiarity with CAD layouts or facility design
