Starting Wage Range: $27.05/hr. - $34.95/hr.
Job Summary:
Provides navigation and support services to families and children working with the Children & Family Services (CFS) program. To meet family needs and goals including, but not limited to, providing transportation, supervising parent-child visits, reducing barriers to services, hands on application assistance and connecting to resources as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Assists the parents of Tribal children in identifying and reducing barriers to meet the requirements of their service plan in meeting their goal of reunification.
- Assists parents in navigating programs and services to meet their goals.
- Provides hands-on assistance to parents with applications, organization, and schedule planning.
- Facilitates, supervises and monitors visitation between parents and their children as appropriate.
- Assists parents with transportation barriers including providing transportation, access to public transportation, etc.
- Provides Tribal teens with education on Tribal, State and County services available to youth.
- Assists youth in navigating programs and services to meet their goals, by providing hands-on assistance to youth with applications, organization, and schedule planning.
- Provides Tribal youth opportunities to participate in cultural and community activities and education.
- Assists in case plan implementation for agency clients.
- Implements individual visitation agreements including the schedule, location, supervision level and safety plan.
- Provides detailed visitation reports of interactions during visits for caseworkers.
- Assists parents in learning new skills related to parenting.
- Facilitates parenting trainings or other trainings that could benefit parents and/or community
- Facilitate Family Unity Meetings/Provider meetings
- Attends weekly CFS staffing’s
- Transports/escorts children for counseling, medical, and psychological appointments.
- Models appropriate behavior and skills for youth and parents.
- Acts as a mandatory reporter of neglect/abuse/inappropriate behaviors reported by children in foster care, foster parents, providers and others interacting with children and any personal observations.
- Works collaboratively with CFS staff to meet the needs of the parents and youth.
- Assists with referrals for services and provides direct services to clients as needed.
- Additional duties include but not limited to; attending weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings, maintaining timely and accurate documentation and records. Participates in required funding activities, and maintains 100% confidentiality in both work and personal environments.
- Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED and must enroll and take coursework toward completion of an Associate’s degree in Human Services. Incumbent will be placed on an aggressive training and education plan.
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience in Human Services or closely related field.
- OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license or obtain one upon hire, qualify for the Tribe’s vehicle insurance, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.
Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:
- Requires a First Aid/CPR certificate or must obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of Indian Child Welfare Act preferred.
- Requires knowledge of Native American culture and values.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively to express or receive detailed information and/or important instructions through both written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis/hostile environments.
- Requires knowledge of computers, database programs, copy machine, and fax.
- Must have the ability to perform to multi-task in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Must have the ability to work with angry or disgruntled clients in a cooperative and effective manner.
- This position is not a typical 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. workday. Must have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as determined by client needs and program events/activities.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
- Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
- Works with angry or disgruntled clients in a cooperative and effective manner.
- Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
- This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
- Due to the nature of interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
- Local travel is frequently required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
