Job Summary:
The Production Technician supports daily plant operations by assisting Lead Technicians and executing operational plans. This role plays a key part in Training & Development (T&D), ensuring employees are properly trained and certified while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards. The position also supervises production line technicians when required and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Support:
- Follow all plant safety rules, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols
- Handle chemicals in compliance with safety standards
- Wear and enforce proper use of PPE
- Support Safety team in developing and delivering training programs
- Maintain required certifications and training qualifications
Training & Development:
- Develop and implement training plans in collaboration with leadership
- Support new hire onboarding and TPM training initiatives
- Drive cross-training programs for employee development
- Train employees on Standardized Work and maintain records via SharePoint
- Coach employees on One Point Lessons (OPLs) and documentation practices
- Document and track all training activities and certifications
Production Support:
- Follow and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain and update training materials and documentation
- Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) implementation
- Participate in safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist in minimizing downtime and resolving process issues
- Monitor KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost, staffing) and escalate issues
- Maintain knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows
- Support shift operations, including breaks and team coordination
- Lead team operations in absence of Lead Technician
- Participate in shift meetings and operational reviews
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Knowledge of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor employees
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to monitor KPIs and respond to production issues
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to safety, quality, and compliance
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with SharePoint for document control and training records
- Understanding of SOPs, process documentation, and training matrices
- Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Technical or vocational training preferred
Experience:
- Typically 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or operations
- Experience in training, TPM, or production support roles preferred
