A Production Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the financial performance of production/ manufacturing operations. This role blends financial analysis with operational management, ensuring production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Plan, monitor, and control production budgets; prepare cost forecasts and variance analyses.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze production costs, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and evaluate variances between standard and actual costs.
- Financial Reporting: Generate regular financial and operational reports (e.g., monthly performance summaries, cost trend analyses).
- Process Optimization: Identify inefficiencies and propose improvement measures to enhance profitability and reduce waste.
- Inventory & Stock Control: Participate in inventory audits, verify accurate cost allocations, and ensure proper reconciliation of materials and finished goods.
- ERP and Data Management: Maintain accurate costing data within ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, or similar) and ensure integration with financial reporting.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to align financial and operational goals.
- Compliance & Internal Control: Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS), and audit requirements.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in cost accounting or production controlling, ideally within high volume manufacturing or electronics
- Strong understanding of standard costing, BOMs, and cost allocation principles.
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Syspro, Microsoft Excel).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in financial reporting, cost accounting, and standard costing in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
