We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following physician orders and facility protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs, medication effects, and overall health status, reporting any concerns promptly to nursing staff.
- Assist residents with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times.
- Maintain precise medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, including medication logs and care notes.
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or dementia and memory care requirements with patience and professionalism.
- Follow all state healthcare regulations and safety procedures during manual handling, heavy lifting, and other caregiving tasks to ensure safety for both residents and staff.
- Communicate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority.
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care practices including Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care.
- Proficiency in using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with EHR systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining resident confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks required for resident assistance.
- Excellent communication skills for caregiving roles involving patient care coordination and caregiver communication.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; additional training in hospice care or medical documentation is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges is desirable.
