About the Role:

The Housekeeping position at Summit Health & Living, is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role focuses on ensuring all areas of the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, and service spaces, are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to established protocols. The successful candidate will contribute to infection control efforts by adhering to health and safety standards, thereby supporting the overall well-being of the community. Attention to detail and consistency in cleaning practices are critical to uphold the facility’s reputation for excellence in care. Ultimately, this role plays a vital part in creating a comfortable and hygienic atmosphere that enhances the quality of life for all who live and work at Summit Health & Living.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services, preferably in a healthcare or residential care setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic communication skills to understand instructions and report issues effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in infection control or housekeeping best practices.
  • Experience working in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with environmentally friendly cleaning products and procedures.
  • Training in the use of specialized cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and maintain cleanliness of waste collection points in compliance with health regulations.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards observed during cleaning activities to the appropriate department promptly.
  • Restock housekeeping supplies and maintain inventory to ensure availability of necessary materials for daily operations per supervisor direction.
  • Collaborate with nursing and administrative staff to coordinate cleaning schedules that minimize disruption to residents and facility operations and/or as directed by supervisor.

The required skills enable the housekeeper to efficiently and safely perform cleaning duties while adhering to facility standards and health regulations. Attention to detail ensures that all areas are thoroughly cleaned, reducing the risk of infection and promoting resident comfort. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with team members and reporting maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of infection control and environmentally friendly practices, enhance the quality and sustainability of cleaning operations. Together, these skills support a proactive approach to maintaining a hygienic and pleasant environment within the skilled nursing facility.
