OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS
This
role supports the success of the Controller’s Office and is vital in ensuring
the ongoing accuracy and timeliness of information important to managing the
University’s financial resources, supporting strategic initiatives &
outcomes, and ensuring compliance with fiscal rules and other regulatory
requirements.
Financial
management:
• Monitor and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
• Review and analyze financial results
• Reconcile bank and investment accounts
• Coordinate fixed asset accounting including State funding receipts
• Assist with annual financial and compliance audit
• Inventory accounting for various campus auxiliaries
Management
reporting and support:
• Prepare and facilitate Board of Trustee and Investment Committee reports
• Investment tracking
• Liaison with student investment club
• Facilitate CORA requests and replies
Regulatory
compliance:
• Communicating monthly financial results to State of Colorado
• Facilitate bond and debt compliance reporting
• Support University’s tax compliance review
• External tuition and financial performance reporting
• Periodic review of campus expenses ensuring compliance with Fiscal Rules
Other duties may be assigned as needed by our business.
ROLES
• Reconcile assigned bank accounts monthly
• Draw State funds quarterly for capital construction & controlled maintenance projects
• Roll forward annual audit report
• Receive, process, assign and reply to all CORA requests
• Prepare Board of Trustee reports and supplemental statements as assigned
• Prepare and submit annual higher education industry reports and metric data

ESSENTIAL
EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with coursework equivalent to an accounting major or emphasis, or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Preferred Experience: Two to five years of hands-on accounting experience, demonstrating regular and consistent application of accounting theory, GAAP principles, and standard accounting practices.
• Technical Competence: Proven ability to perform core accounting functions such as reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
