What are the responsibilities and job description for the Upper School Science Short Term Leave (Physics) position at Colorado Academy?
Colorado Academy seeks a full-time science teaching candidate to cover a leave of absence in the fall trimester (August 4 - November 6), with the possibility of extending through winter break (December 18), in the 2026-2027 school year. The position includes sections ranging from conceptual level Physics to AP Physics 1, open to eleventh and twelfth graders. Additionally, this position includes an independent research course where upper level students pursue research projects in Biology and Physics.
Candidates should have experience, training, and/or a demonstrated interest in teaching science in a student-centered classroom at the secondary school level. Candidates should be interested in working on a team with other teachers, implementing an established curriculum.
Candidates should be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm. Additionally, candidates will be expected to share in the day-to-day life of the school community, which includes serving as an advisor. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated intercultural competence, which we define as the ability to understand and bridge diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences, is a must.
